Viscosupplementation Treatment
Dr. Lai will first meet with you to perform a thorough consultation to diagnose your condition. This consultation will include a physical examination and other tests in order to best diagnose your area of pain. If Dr. Lai has diagnosed you with a joint condition, then he will proceed to create a customized viscosupplementation treatment for you. The amount of treatment sessions depends on the severity of your joint condition. You will be able to review the treatment plan with Dr. Lai and he’ll be sure to answer any questions you may have about the process.
The viscosupplementation treatment will consist of Dr. Lai carefully injecting hyaluronic acid into your affected joint in order to replace the missing synovial fluid. To start off the treatment, a local anesthetic will be placed on the affected area for your comfort. Then after carefully pinpointing the damaged area, Dr. Lai will inject your joint on the side of your knee. You may experience some minor discomfort and swelling after receiving viscosupplementation treatment. Dr. Lai will spend time going over the recovery process with you so that you know what to expect. Within just a few days of treatment, you should experience pain relief from your joint condition.
