Treatment Process for Joint Injection
Before Treatment
Dr. Lai will perform a comprehensive consultation to thoroughly assess your joint pain. Here he will perform a physical exam, review your medical history, and give you an X-ray exam. Then he will be able to create a personalized treatment plan based on the severity of your joint injury or condition. If you are suffering from severe joint pain, then more than one treatment session may be prescribed in order to maximize your joint pain relief. It is important for you to share any medications you are currently taking to Dr. Lai in order to ensure a seamless pain relief treatment process
This minimally invasive procedure for joint pain relief is rather short and only takes about 10-20 minutes. Dr. Lai will first clean and prepare the target area of your joint pain. He will then use an advanced X-ray machine to accurately place the injection into the damaged joint area. The joint injection containing corticosteroid combined with a light anesthetic will then be administered. Just to be safe you will be asked to stay for a specified amount of time after treatment so we can monitor your body’s immediate response to the injection. Afterwards, you should be able to enjoy joint pain relief!
Recovery for Joint Injection
You can continue going about your normal day-to-day life a day after the joint injection treatment. The joint pain relief you experience can range from days to years and can depend on the severity of the condition. It is possible for you to experience soreness for a few days after treatment, but you can use a cold compress and mild pain reliever to ease any slight pain.
Dr. Lai will follow up with you after treatment in order to monitor your recovery. It is important for you to track your level of pain following treatment so you can discuss it with Dr. Lai. Additional joint injection treatments or other forms of pain relief treatment may be prescribed so we can optimize your joint pain relief. To further rehabilitate the joint, joint injections could be combined with physical therapy.
